ARTIST STATEMENT

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Colour and pattern in three dimensions.

Georgia Polyzoi is a ceramic artist from Euboea, based in Athens.

Working with paper porcelain and ceramic stains, she creates sculptural forms and vessels in which colour, pattern and structure develop together

A shared visual language

Across Georgia Polyzoi’s work, colour and pattern form a shared visual language. Rather than being added to a finished object as decoration, they develop together with the form and participate in its construction.

Her practice unfolds in two parallel directions. In Soft Structures, patterned porcelain sheets are folded and arranged by hand. In Rhythmic Vessels, individual coloured elements are joined one by one until repetition becomes surface, rhythm and body.

Although created through different processes, both series explore how colour and pattern change the way porcelain is perceived—giving a hard material an unexpected sense of softness and movement.
